Visa validities are dependent on the rules and regulations set by the country in question and can also differ based on the type of visa being requested.  Most countries issue visas that are valid for a specific period of time and then allow you to stay for a predetermined number of days within the country, starting from the date of entry.  For example, a visa may be valid for a period of 3 months and allow you to stay for 30 days in the relevant country.  This means that you need to travel to that country within the 3 months that the visa is valid and once you are there, you can stay for 30 days.

The validity of a visa refers to the date that the visa will expire. The length of stay or duration of the visa refers to the maximum amount of time that you are allowed to stay in that country without leaving.

A single-entry visa allows you to enter and leave a country once during the validity of that visa

A double-entry visa allows you to enter and leave a country twice during the validity of that visa

A multiple-entry visa allows you to enter and leave a country 3 or more times during the validity of that visa

There are some countries which issue visas on arrival.  There is, however, no guarantee that you will always be issued with a visa on arrival and therefore Visa Service Desk recommends that you should arrange your visa before travel to avoid unpleasant surprises.

If you wish to travel and make use of a visa on arrival then we advise you always to contact your airline to find out if you can check in for your flight without a visa.
